SUNBIO is proud to be part of the Marine Shield Cluster, an alliance of EU-funded projects committed to tackling water pollution through advanced monitoring, effective prevention, and innovative remediation strategies. Coordinated by the iMERMAID project, the Marine Shield Cluster brings together complementary initiatives, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange across Europe.
The Marine Shield Cluster serves as a dynamic platform where projects actively share expertise, insights, and research findings. Its mission is to inspire joint actions, enhance dissemination activities, and maximize the impact of each project’s work by reaching broader audiences and key stakeholders.
At the heart of the cluster lies a shared vision: to deliver actionable solutions that address critical challenges in water pollution and marine ecosystem protection. By aligning efforts, the cluster promotes synergies that strengthen the effectiveness of monitoring systems, prevention measures, and remediation technologies.
The 1st Marine Shield Cluster Meeting, held on February 13, 2025, marked the beginning of a series of collaborative gatherings. The meeting provided an excellent opportunity for each project to present their approach, showcasing cutting-edge methodologies and technological innovations designed to mitigate marine environmental threats.
SUNBIO’s contribution highlighted our commitment to reducing environmental impact while promoting effective and long-lasting solutions for marine applications.
The meeting also set the stage for discussions around the Marine Shield Cluster’s action plan, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in achieving shared objectives. The cluster’s strategy for the upcoming period includes joint dissemination activities, collaborative research opportunities, and the development of best practices to further strengthen the fight against water pollution.
Together, we can create meaningful progress toward healthier seas and more resilient water ecosystems.
