The SUNBIO project was presented at the ’77th IIW Annual Assembly and International Conference on Welding and Joining’, which took place from July 7-12,2024 on Rhodes Island, Greece.

The Intelligent Welding Manufacturing Symposium (IWM-Symposium 2024) focuses on the advancements of crucial technologies for future intelligent, robotic, and automated welding manufacturing. The IIW Annual Assembly and International Conference features a series of simultaneous meetings and events designed to enhance and disseminate the scientific and technological aspects of all processes associated with welding.

Prof. Mayorkinos Papaelias from the University Of Birmingham (UoB), with his colleague, Matthew Gee presented a paper on SUNBIO under the topic “Energy Infrastructures and Transportation across the Seas”. The paper, entitled “Technical Challenges in Achieving Widespread Implementation of Wave Energy Converter Systems and Future Directions,” and was focused on the types of wave energy converters, the technical challenges, and the future of wave energy converters.

During the conference, constructive discussions took place, while the connections that were established are invaluable and will undoubtedly advance the initiatives of the SUNBIO project.
