SUNBIO was showcased at the European Maritime Day (EMD), held from May 21st to 23rd, 2025, in Cork, Ireland. The event was organized by the European Commission in collaboration with the Cork City Council and the Irish Department of Environment, Climate and Communications. EMD is the EU’s flagship annual event for the maritime community—a three-day gathering where stakeholders connect to exchange ideas, form partnerships, and advance action on maritime policy and the sustainable blue economy.

The SUNBIO project was represented by ATLANTIS Consulting at Stand 53, actively contributing to the dynamic and collaborative atmosphere of EMD 2025. The event welcomed approximately 1,285 stakeholders, providing a platform where “Ocean Leaders Meet.” Attendees participated in high-level plenary sessions, expert workshops, and interactive exhibitions focused on the value and future of Europe’s maritime sectors.

EMD 2025 offered a unique space to celebrate “Maritime Europe” by showcasing the diversity, innovation, and impact of blue economy initiatives. It invited reflection on the vital role oceans play in climate action, economic development, and daily life. The event attracted professionals from industry, government, NGOs, academia, and civic society, all united by a shared commitment to ocean sustainability.

This year’s program also included the third annual Fisheries and Ocean Dialogue, hosted by the Blue Forum, providing valuable insights into marine governance, ecosystem-based management, and participatory policy development.

SUNBIO’s participation at EMD 2025 highlighted its dedication to pioneering solutions that unite marine biodiversity, clean energy, and carbon capture—supporting the EU’s goal of a sustainable and climate-resilient blue economy.
