SUNBIO participated in the ICM Horizon Europe Weeks, an initiative organized by the Research Support Office of the Institute of Marine Sciences (ICM-CSIC) to strengthen researchers’ capacity to engage with Horizon Europe and related EU funding opportunities.
This two-part event, which was held in November 2025 and February 2026, offered interactive info sessions, seminars, and hands-on workshops designed to guide participants from idea conception to successful proposal submission. Topics included identifying the right calls, building competitive consortia, addressing cross-cutting issues (Gender Equality, AI, Open Science, SSH), and understanding the evaluator’s perspective during proposal assessment.
SUNBIO was showcased as an example of a successful Horizon Europe innovation project, illustrating how interdisciplinary collaboration between marine engineers, ecologists, and data scientists can lead to AI- and renewable-energy-powered ecological observatories that support the EU’s Blue Economy and Mission Ocean objectives.
By contributing to these discussions and activities, SUNBIO helped inspire and guide researchers in developing competitive, impactful proposals that align with European priorities.
